Jada Pinkett-Smith Isn’t Worried About Being Liked, Says It’s “The Space Of Manipulation”
Jada Pinkett-Smith has faced lots of criticism this year. But she might not be worried about any of it.
In a recent episode of Red Table Talk Jada Pinkett-Smith, 49, talked about dealing with how the public perceives you.
“I never worry about being liked because it’s a trick bag.”
She adds:
“That is the space of manipulation. If you need somebody to like you it’ll be too difficult for someone to act from an authentic place.”
Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s mom Adrienne Banfield-Jones chimes in, saying that most people have a difficult time liking themselves.
“But here’s the deal, most people have a difficult time liking themselves. It’s almost like begging someone to see your true image through a cracked lens. It’s not going to happen.”

August Alsina, Jada Pinkett-Smith (circa 2018)
Jada Pinkett Smith is no stranger to having to deal with controversial topics and criticism. A few months ago Jada Pinkest-Smith received backlash from her relationship with singer August Alsina. D.L. Hughley called the “entanglement” between Jada Pinkett Smith and August Alsina predatory.
“I’m not in anyone’s relationship business but when they [Will and Jada] were saying, ‘He was mentally sick and he was emotionally sick’ – that’s predatory. If you’re sick, physically ill, he’s emotionally [ill] – and then the damage you do, like this dude [Alsina] was talking about killing himself.”

Jada was also a topic of conversation in an interview with Snoop Dogg earlier this year when she spoke with Snoop Dogg after his profanity-laced comments against Gayle King after the CBS This Morning host questioned Lisa Leslie about the sexual assault allegations against Kobe Bryant.
