‘Dear White People’ Stops Production After Multiple COVID-19 Cases

‘Dear White People’ Stops Production For Two Weeks After Multiple COVID-19 Cases
COVID-19 rears it’s ugly head once again, but this time it has temporarily paused production for two weeks on a hit Netflix series after “Several team members of the Lionsgate television series Dear White People for Netflix have tested positive for COVID-19,” according to a Lionsgate spokesperson.
The spokesperson continued stating,
“They are currently in quarantine, and other staff members have been notified. We are following the extensive health and safety protocols we have in place, and the series will not be shooting for the next two weeks while quarantine measures are observed. The health and safety of our Dear White People team is our highest priority.”
Dear White People was in the midst of filming its fourth and final season but joined a host of other shows having to hit the brakes on production due to COVID-19 cases. Reportedly, HBO’s The Gilded Age, ABC’s Call Your Mother, Netflix’s The Witcher and Vikings: Valhalla, NBC’s Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, Fox’s The Resident and CBS’ Young Sheldon as well as many others have members of their cast or crew test positive for the virus.
This comes shortly after one of the show’s actor, Jeremy Tardy left the show, alleging he was racially discriminated against during pay negotiations.
