Kirk Franklin released his Gospel hit “Melodies From Heaven” in 1996, and DJ Luke Nasty decided to sample the song for his latest song “Rain.” Kirk Franklin and social media have a lot to say about DJ Luke Nasty using the uncleared gospel hit for his song.

Kirk Franklin took to his social media platforms, appearing to be unimpressed with the sample, letting it be known that there was no clearance for his song “Melodies From Heaven” to be featured in DJ Luke Nasty’s latest track. In a video seemingly responding to the unauthorized sample, Kirk Franklin said,
“Ya’ll know me, ya’ll been knowing me for a long time. And ya’ll know I do some crazy stuff, but I have not cleared any other version, but this version. This is the only version alright? You got it?”

DJ Luke Nasty then updated his Instagram profile photo to a screengrab of Kirk Franklin from the video stating that no clearance was made before the release of the song.
