EXCLUSIVE: Singer Avant’s Advice For The Next Generation: These Jobs Are Suffocating Your Creativity, Your Boss Will Never Pay You Enough To Live Next To Him

In an exclusive interview with theJasmineBrand, singer Avant didn’t hold back with his sincere advice to his younger fans.

When asked about what he’s telling the next generation or something he learned from his personal experience, Avant (real name Myron Lavell Avant Avant) said:

“Right now, quarantine shouldn’t be a bad thing for you, and the reason I’m saying that is that these jobs per say, they are really suffocating our creativity. Us as black folks we are very creative, but a lot of times we go for the dollar they throw at us.”

The 42-year-old soulful crooner went on to explain how 9-5 jobs can lead to creatives making excuses about pursuing their passion.

“‘Yo, you know man I was going to do that but I can’t do that now. I’m working this job and this job got me for eight hours and when I come home I gotta do this and I gotta do that.’ So you’re really losing that creativity. But right now since a lot of people are not in jobs anymore, go back. Go find that creativity again and then start something else. Even if you go back to that job you will always have this. “

He also talked about reaching ceilings in the workplace.

“Understand your power and also understand this, your boss will never pay you enough to stay next to him.”

The singer concluded by reminding creatives to stay with a position that pays their bills, but never to lose sight of the goal.

“I’m not telling you not to work that job, but understand your power. Understand that you must come first. There’s going to be some sleepless nights. There’s going to be some tireless times, but get back to what can help you and your family again… It’s a lot of people out there that are truly entrepreneurs, but they’re so afraid to step out there because a lot of this is ‘Oh I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna fail.’ Hey everybody fails, everybdy loses. It’s all about getting back up and going at it.”

Avant released a new album called “Can We Fall In Love” in July 2020, but also doesn’t mind taking it back. A week ago he posted a video on Instagram singing one of his biggest hits “I Can Read Your Mind.”
