Issa Rae Says She Questions Her Longevity As ‘Insecure’ Ends: My Future Is Kind Of Up In The Air
While fans are still reeling from the fact that HBO’s Insecure is coming to an end, Issa Rae opened up about staying positive concerning what’s next.

During a recent Instagram Live conversation, she spoke on her negative self-talk and a positive affirmation she replaces it with. She said:
“I’m entering a new chapter in my life, which I’m discovering, with the end of ‘Insecure’, it feels like my future is kind of up in the air. What’s gonna be my next thing? You know, am I gonna be okay, am I gonna be cool, do I have longevity in this industry?”
“I guess my positive affirmation would be, ‘You can be here as long as you wanna be. As long as you work at it. As long as it’s right for you.'”
She also agreed with the statement that black people often feel like they don’t have the opportunity to fail.
“Isn’t that right? I will say working with other black people, people are more forgiving because they want you to win. There’s nothing like working with a black person that you’ve hired and they f— up, and they’re like ‘Well I’m giving you another chance! Don’t f— this up for all of us.’ We tend to be more forgiving.”

As previously reported, Insecure is ending after its upcoming fifth season.
Issa Rae said in a statement to Deadline that she and Insecure showrunner Prentice Penny are:
so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end. We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience. I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
