Jim Jones is recalling a time he nearly got physical with fellow rapper Lil Wayne over the hook to a song they did together.
While on The Joe Budden Podcast, he spoke on his Weatherman collaboration with Lil Wayne and said,
“I wanted to f— Weezy up over that record, man. But Weezy’s my brother, you know I love him to death. But Weezy did some wacky s— when it came to that record.”
He explained,
“Remember he had a record with Fat Joe called ‘Make It Rain On ‘Em’? That was our hook. Now go listen to that record, and then pull up ‘Weatherman.'”
He said he once confronted Lil Wayne about it and rapper Juelz Santana stopped things from going too far.
“I caught Weezy in the club one day, and [I was like] ‘Boy…’ And Juelz was like ‘Yo, Jim… Juelz stopped that situation.”
He continued,
“Weezy took the hook and put it on Fat Joe’s record and had no explanation but ‘Yo, I be high.’ I was ready to take it to the next level and Juelz really… I’ll never forget, it was an MTV awards show… We was in the China Club when I seen him. The homie just finished throwing somebody off the balcony… right in front of Weezy like ‘What’s up?!'”
