Gayle King Asks FKA Twigs Why She Didn’t Leave Alleged Abuser Shia LaBeouf

FKA Twigs has conducted her first TV interview since accusing her ex-boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf, of physically abusing her.

While on CBS This Morning, host Gayle King asked FKA Twigs why she stayed with Shia LaBeouf after the alleged abuse.

“I think we just have to stop asking that question. I know you’re asking it, like, out of love, but like, I’m just gonna make a stance and say that I’m not gonna answer that question anymore. Because the question should really be to the abuser of ‘Why are you holding someone hostage with abuse?’ 

She explained,

“People say, ‘Oh it couldn’t have been that bad or else you would’ve left.’ But no, it’s because it was that bad, I couldn’t leave.”

As previously reported, FKA Twigs is suing Shia LaBeouf, alleging he abused her and knowingly gave her an STD.

He denied the claims in a statement to The New York Times and said:

“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

In court documents, FKA twigs pointed to an alleged incident from Valentine’s Day in 2019, where Shia LaBeouf was said to be speeding and driving recklessly in Los Angeles. The two had just returned from a trip. He allegedly removed his seatbelt and said he would crash the car unless she told him she loved him. she begged him to let her out of the car and he stopped at a gas station and removed her bags. While she got out of the car, she alleged he followed her and slammed her against it before making her get back in the vehicle.

She also addressed the allegations on Instagram.
