Issa Rae Says She’s ‘Super Protective Of Any Relationship I’m In’ Because ‘Internet Culture Is Weird & Malicious’
While Issa Rae has yet to confirm speculation she’s engaged, it doesn’t look like she’ll be showing off any relationship online.
The “Insecure” star, who covers the latest issue of Rolling Stone, explains why she doesn’t show off her relationships on the internet.
“I just feel super-protective of any relationship I’m in. That’s come from observing and making fun of people over the years who broadcast the most intimate parts of their relationships, then are left with egg on their face.”
She continues,
“I know how I am as a consumer. I had the foresight to shield myself from what anybody who was looking for anything on me would try to find, because I know this culture.”
She goes on to slam “internet culture” as “weird and malicious”, adding, “I’ve just worked really hard to protect myself from the ugliest parts of it.”
Engagement rumors for Issa Rae started back in 2019 as her “Insecure” co-stars confirmed she’s engaged to her longtime boyfriend Louis Diame.
Yvonne Orji told Entertainment Tonight back then,
“We’re very excited for her.”

Jay Ellis added,
“We all found out in different ways because we’re all on different text chains. We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways.”

Meanwhile, she was spotted wearing a diamond on her ring finger on Instagram.
