Shaun King Called Out By Tamir Rice’s Mother, Samaria Rice, For Allegedly Fabricating Details About A Conversation They Shared

Shaun King is facing backlash and trending on Twitter after sharing a conversation he had with Tamir Rice’s mother. Yesterday (Tuesday, June, 22) Tamir Rice’s mother, Samaria Rice, took to her Instagram account and called out fellow activist Shaun King for wrongfully disclosing and fabricating details about a conversation they had in private on his podcast The Breakdown With Shaun King. In her post, she wrote,

“Why do you think it’s so important to tell folks we had a conversation? Well we talked and everything that was said was very toxic and uncomfortable for me to hear that you raised additional money and then say you did not want to bother me.”

She also wrote,

“Personally I don’t understand how you sleep at night. I never gave you permission to raise nothing. Along with the United States, you robbed me for the death of my son.”

Samaria Rice also called Shaun King a ‘white man’ more than once in the post and said he’s a ‘selfish and self-centered person.’

Samaria Rice first came into the public’s eye after her son, 12-year-old Tamir Rice, was fatally shot in 2014 by a Cleveland police officer for playing with a toy gun at the park.

Since being called out by Samaria Rice, it seems that Shaun King has pulled the podcast episode in question, which was initially titled ‘Ep. 469 – I spoke to Samaria Rice this past week,’ and replaced it with a new audio recording.

However, he still has a link featured in his IG stories that’s advertising the original episode.

Following Samaria Rice’s IG post, Shaun King became a trending topic on Twitter as many people joined in and called him out as well for seemingly making a now-deleted response post expressing that he is a black man.
