Bill Cosby Reportedly Considering Lawsuit Against Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Where He Was Imprisoned
Newly-released Bill Cosby is reportedly gearing up to sue the county where he was imprisoned for about three years.
As previously reported, disgraced comedian Bill Cosby was released from prison yesterday (Wednesday, June 30th). In 2018, he was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman back in 2004, and he was sentenced to 3-10 years. However, he was also accused of doing the same to dozens of women over the years. Despite his conviction, it was overturned on account of the discovery that the criminal proceedings against him violated an agreement made with former Montgomery County D.A. Bruce Castor.
Now that his conviction has been overturned, Bill Cosby and his wife Camille Cosby are reportedly considering taking legal action. According to TMZ, the Cosbys are contemplating filing a lawsuit against Montgomery County, Pennsylvania–located just northwest of Philadelphia. Specifically, Bill and Camille Cosby could sue Montgomery County for abuse of process. This term is used when legal proceedings are deliberately used improperly for malicious reasons.
Bill Cosby is essentially claiming the prosecutor misused the legal system by disregarding his agreement with the former D.A. Additionally, Bill Cosby‘s legal team is reportedly exploring other methods of recourse against Montgomery County.
Bill Cosby has maintained his innocence throughout his sexual assault scandal.
