Elaine Welteroth Is The Latest Co-Host To Leave ‘The Talk’

Another seat is now vacant on The Talk stage.

Elaine Welteroth, is the second co-host to leave The Talk stage. The former Teen Vogue editor, who joined the cast in January 2021, announced her departure after one season ahead of the season 13 premier.

This comes only a few weeks after Carrie Ann Inaba confirmed that she too would not be returning.

Elaine Welteroth, joined the cast alongside Amanda Kloots, to replace Eve and Marie Osmond earlier this year.

Now with only three hosts left, the CBS talk show continues with recently hired Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood, who is the longest serving host of the series, joining in 2011.

In a statement, Elaine Welteroth said,

“It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented. It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand for.” 

She added,

“I came to The Talk to break out of my own echo chamber and to join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy. I’m proud of how I represented myself and my community. But as I always say: When the music changes, so must your dance! I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and I wish them the very best. Thanks to all those who tuned in every day. I’m excited to continue these necessary conversations in my work and to share my upcoming creative projects soon.”

About Elaine’s departure, the show’s executive producers, Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews, said,

“We wish Elaine all the best. We are grateful for her passion, enthusiasm, and insight she brought to the show daily. Her openness and meaningful conversations were attributes we admired and always appreciated.”

The Talk made headlines back in April following the on-air altercation between Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne, which resulted in Osbourne’s departure too.

Reportedly, producers are hoping to have at least one chair filled by September 13th, which sets to premier the new season.
