Russell Westbrook Attends New York Fashion Week In A Long White Skirt
Russell Westbrook chose to challenge gender norms this past weekend!
Yesterday (Sunday, Sept. 12th) marked the end of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) 2021. Before the iconic fashion event wrapped, NBA star Russell Westbrook notably made a statement with one outfit. This past Saturday (Sept. 11th), Russell Westbrook attended the Thom Browne Spring 2022 show wearing a white skirt and a cardigan. The 32-year-old point guard accessorized his look with a diamond choker, leather boots, and blue hair.

Russell Westbrook also shared the look on his Instagram account, adding the caption:
“‘Don’t address me unless it’s with four letters’ @kendricklamar.”

The lyrics Russell Westbrook captioned his image with are from Kendrick Lamar‘s verse on “family ties” by Baby Keem.
It is also worth noting that Russell Westbrook wasn’t the only male celebrity to rock a skirt at NYFW 2021. On Saturday (Sept. 11th), Kid Cudi attended the Studio 189 fashion show while wearing a long black skirt. He was also wearing a long sleeved Nirvana sweatshirt and–like Russell Westbrook–had blue hair.

This is not the first time Kid Cudi has used fashion to challenge gender norms–or pay tribute to Nirvana. As previously reported, Kid Cudi wore a floral dress during his Saturday Night Live performance earlier this year.

This fashion choice immediately drew comparisons to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, as he wore a similar dress for a 1993 photoshoot.
