Octavia Spencer Apologizes To Britney Spears For ‘Make Him Sign A Prenup’ Remark After Her Engagement Announcement: My Intention Was To Make Them Laugh
Octavia Spencer has issued a public apology to Britney Spears and her fiancé, Sam Asghari.
As previously reported, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari announced their engagement this past Sunday (Sept. 12th). The news came shortly after Britney Spears‘ father, Jamie Spears, officially filed to end her 13-year-long conservatorship.

Britney Spears shared the news in an Instagram video uploaded to her now-deactivated account. Shortly after the video was posted, actress Octavia Spencer notably left a comment that caught many people’s attention:
“Make him sign a prenup.”

Sam Asghari then seemingly addressed Octavia Spencer‘s comment in a humorous Instagram Story upload. He wrote:
“Thank you everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase she dumps me one day [laughing emojis].”

Despite Sam Asghari seemingly taking the prenup comment well, Octavia Spencer issued a public apology to the newly-engaged couple. Earlier today (Wednesday, Sept. 15th), the actress uploaded a photo of the couple and wrote:
“Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of. Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness. We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love. #nonegativity.”

After the news of the engagement, Britney Spears deleted her Instagram account yesterday (Tuesday, Sept. 14th). However, she addressed the deactivation on Twitter:
“Don’t worry folks… just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!!! I’ll be back soon.”
