NBA Says Unvaccinated Players Won’t Get Paid For Missed Games
The NBA has announced players who are unvaccinated will not get paid for missing games.
The league made the announcement on Wednesday (Sept. 29), despite not making it mandatory for players to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The new regulation is reportedly due to local mandates in cities like San Fransico and NYC, which can directly impact players like Kyrie Irving, who plays for the Brooklyn Nets, and Andrew Wiggins, who plays for the Golden State Warriors. They both reportedly decided against the vaccine.

Andrew Wiggins
With half of their games being at home and their arenas requiring one or both COVID vaccine shots for entrance, Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins could possibly miss 41 games, resulting in each of them losing over $15 million.
On his vaccination status, Kyrie Irving previously said,
“Honestly I like to keep that stuff private.”

During the Warriors media day, Andrew Wiggins also stated that his status is a ‘private matter,’ which he plans to keep that way.
LeBron James recently confirmed he is vaccinated but reiterated that he feels the decision should be up to that individual. He added,
“You have to do what’s best for your family. So I know what I did for me and my family. I know some of my friends and what they did for their families. But as far as speaking for everybody and their individualities and things that they want to do, I don’t feel like that…that’s not my job.”
