Kandi Burruss Remembers Her Late Brother On The 30th Anniversary Of His Passing: I Still Miss Him!
No matter how much time passes, grieving a loved one can last forever Sadly, Kandi Burruss and her family are experiencing the pain years after her brother’s death.
Kandi Burruss opened about her late brother Patrick Riley on Instagram as she and her family celebrated the 30th anniversary of her older brother’s passing.
In an Instagram post, she wrote:
“While everybody was upset about IG being down, I was celebrating my brother with my mom at his grave site.”
Along with some old family photos she added,
“I can’t believe he’s been gone 30 years. I still miss him! The best big brother ever! Happy Birthday Patrick.”
On June 17, 1971, Kandi Burruss was a teenager when her brother Patrick was involved in a car accident, which ultimately took his life at 22.
Kandi recently opened up about being depressed as a teen and that she even contemplated suicide.
In an episode of her YouTube series, Speak On It, she said,
“I understand depression and different things like that ’cause I dealt with stuff like that at a younger age. I had a bout in middle school where I actually wanted to commit suicide. But, praise The Lord, I wasn’t able to find my mom’s gun when I wanted to do it. So that did not happen, praise God. And I think as I got into high school is when I started finding myself, but then I also lost my brother in high school.”
She added,
“So it was dealing with a bout of depression and pushing through, you get what I’m saying?… In anything that you’re doing, there is going to have to be a sense of–even when you don’t want to, when it doesn’t feel good, when you’re subconscious, when you’re just feeling emotionally out of it–a sense of ‘In order to get to your end goals, you’re going to have to push through.'”
