Dave Chappelle – Netflix Doesn’t Want Recruiters Talking To Job Candidates About Comedian’s Controversial Standup Special
The drama caused by Dave Chappelle’s comedy special ‘The Closer’ lives to see another day.
Netflix released Dave Chappelle’s standup special ‘The Closer’ last October and not everyone was here for the jokes told by the 48-year-old comedian. As previously reported, following the release of the special, Dave Chappelle faced backlash for telling jokes that some deemed to be transphobic and harmful towards the LGBTQ+ community. Even though it’s been months since the comedy performance was released, it seems like Netflix might still be walking on eggshells.
According to reports, The popular streaming service has advised its job recruiters not to discuss the comedy special with job candidates. An alleged leaked memo provided tips for job recruiters to shift the conversation away from Dave Chappelle and his controversial standup performance. The memo reads,
“Avoid commenting directly on The Closer, since Netflix is not commenting publicly about it.”
“Find a way to respectfully end and move on from the topic if you’re pressed further on the topic in areas not covered in the talking points.”
Reportedly, it also encouraged recruiters to speak on Netflix’s values and state to job hopefuls,
“We value our trans colleagues and allies, and understand the deep hurt that’s been caused. We respect the decision of any employee who chose to walk out, and recognize we have much more work to do both within Netflix and in our content.”

Dave Chappelle has yet to speak on the leaked memo.
