Kanye West Confirms ‘DONDA 2’ Will Be Released In February + Future Will Be The Executive Producer
It looks like a Donda sequel is heading our way! Kanye West has finally confirmed that there will indeed be a part two to his chart topping album ‘DONDA’. On Thursday (Jan.27) the 44-year-old rapper took to Instagram to make the big announcement. He wrote,
“DONDA2 COMING 2 22 22..”
He continued by announcing rapper Future will be the executive producer for the upcoming project.

He made the announcement with a picture of what seems to be his Chicago childhood home on fire, with the date “2 22 22” written on on the side.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Ye had begun working on “Donda 2,” just a few months after the original “Donda” was released on Aug. 29, 2021. Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo posted a text message from Kanye, revealing that he will be featured on the project. The text also confirms that Kanye himself is referring to the LP as a sequel. Kanye’s message to Moneybagg read:
“Yo engineer had [the beat] we looped the beginning on. Can you send me that,”
It continued:
“Could you rap on [just] the drums and I’ll put the music around it. I got to lock in with you on Donda 2. Money in front of us. Bulls*** behind us.”

There is also footage of the two rappers in the studio together.

The first Donda album, which is named after the rapper’s late mother, finally hit streaming platforms in August 2021 after several delays. Kanye started formulating the album in 2020.
“Donda” is up for several Grammy awards, including major categories such as album of the year and rap album of the year. The songs “Hurricane,” featuring the Weeknd and Lil Baby, is up for best melodic rap performance, and “Jail,” featuring Jay-Z, is nominated for best rap song.
