Dr. Dre Still Owns His Debut Album “The Chronic”, Despite Snoop Dogg Claiming He Acquired It With Recent Death Row Records Purchase
Snoop Dogg now owns Death Row Records, but not all parts of it.
Lawyers for hit making producer and hip hop icon Dr. Dre recently released a statement, clarifying speculation that Dre’s debut album “The Chronic” was sold to California rapper Snoop Dogg with his acquisition of Death Row Records.

“Gin And Juice” rapper Snoop Dogg was more than excited to share with fans when he became the proud owner of his former record label Death Row Records which he purchased earlier in the year. After the historic deal, Snoop did an interview with Jay-Z’s streaming platform TIDAL, where the 50-year-old artist discussed working out a deal with Tupac’s estate to acquire rights to his music, and confirmed he owned Dr. Dre’s debut album “The Chronic.”
During the interview Snoop stated:
“As far as 2Pac’s masters, 2Pac’s masters came back to him last year. But I got a great relationship with his estate, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to be able to work something out…to continue some Death Row 2Pac business now that Snoop Dogg is in control of Death Row.”
He continued:
“Same with Dr. Dre and ‘The Chronic’. I got ‘The Chronic’ album. I got Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, Murder Was the Case, Dogg Food, Above the Rim. I got all those records.”

However, Dr. Dre’s attorney Howard King reportedly released a recent statement saying that Snoop Dogg’s claims of ownership over “The Chronic” album are incorrect, stating:
“There are false reports out regarding ownership by Death Row of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. Dr. Dre owns 100 percent of The Chronic.”
