Amanda Bynes’ Conservatorship To End After 9 Years

Amanda Bynes’ Conservatorship To End After 9 Years
There’s a new update in Amanda Bynes‘ conservatorship battle.
On Tuesday, March 22, a judge reportedly granted her request to end her conservatorship, releasing the former child star from the arrangement that has controlled various aspects of her life for the past nine years.

“The conservatorship is no longer needed or required, and therefore the petition for termination is granted,” the judge said during the hearing.
Amanda Bynes‘ mother Lynn Bynes had been her conservator over the years and appeared to support her daughter’s decision to end the arrangement.
Amanda Bynes, 35, was put into the conservatorship in 2013 after she was hospitalized following a string of public outbursts, including setting fire to a driveway and tweeting bizarre messages to celebrities such as Drake and Rihanna.

After the ruling to end it, Bynes issued a statement through her attorney.
“Words can’t even describe how I feel — wonderful news,” she said.
“Following today’s decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time. I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.”
A lawyer for her family had said the arrangement was “intended to be temporary” and that Lynn Bynes was thrilled for her daughter’s growth and ready to end the conservatorship.
“[Lynn is] extremely happy and thrilled and proud of Amanda and ready to terminate this conservatorship based on the hard work Amanda has done.”
Bynes‘ legal win comes months after a judge ruled to terminate Britney Spears‘ conservatorship. Britney Spears‘ arrangement ended in November after almost 14 years. Reports say she is now writing a book about her life, where she is expected to discuss the arrangement, which was controlled by her father, Jamie Spears.
