Kendrick “K-Dot” Lamar is finally about to drop a new album!
Fans of Kendrick Lamar, 34, have shown nothing but “loyalty, loyalty, loyalty” for the past five years as they’ve waited on him to release new music—and he’s finally answering their prayers.
Kendrick Lamar announced on Monday, April 18, that his new album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers will be released on May 13, 2022. The news came via Twitter after a fan said,

In response, Kendrick Lamar provided a link that led to a statement about his upcoming album. It read,
“The following statement was released today by oklama, through his company pgLang at 11:00 am PT in Los Angeles, California. … All factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”
It added,
“Appreciate your patience.”

K-Dot released his fourth studio album, DAMN. in 2017, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified three times platinum. The rapper hasn’t released much music since then. However, he did contribute to Marvel’s Black Panther soundtrack in 2018, which earned him an Oscar nomination for best original song and two Grammy nominations for his song All the Stars featuring SZA. He also gave his cousin, fellow rapper Baby Keem, 21, a few features for his debut album The Melodic Blue.

It was reported in September 2021 that he had registered several new songs with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), prompting speculation that his fifth studio album was coming sooner than later.
