Star Wars Actress Moses Ingram Reveals Racist Threats + Fans Slam The Studio For Lack Of Support When John Boyega Experienced Racism
After the debut of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ last Friday (May 27), actress Moses Ingram has received several racist threats and comments from certain Star Wars fans. On Monday (May 30) Moses Ingram took to her Instagram Story to share some of the hateful messages she had been receiving. One person wrote,
“You’re days are numbered.”
Another social media user said,
“You’re a diversity hire and you won’t be loved or remembered for this acting role.”

“Long story short, there are hundreds of those, hundreds. I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me and that really does mean the world to me because there’s nothing anybody can do about this. There’s nothing anybody can do to stop this hate.”
“The thing that bothers me is this feeling that I’ve had inside of myself—which no one has told me—but this feeling that I’ve just got to shut up and take it. That I’ve just kind of got to bear it. I’m not built like that.”

After the hateful messages went viral and Moses spoke out on the matter, Star Wars’ Twitter account released a message in support of Moses Ingram and denouncing the racist remarks said to her. Their message reads,
“We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.”

John Boyega

Fans also brought up a time where Star Wars allegedly decided to remove John Boyega from TFA’s Chinese poster, many saying it was due to racism.

In a previous interview, John Boyega had some words of advice for Disney when it comes to their black actors. He said,
“What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side.. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.”
