‘Blask-ish’ Creator Kenya Barris’ Estranged Wife Demands Spousal Support In Divorce

As previously reported, Kenya Barris filed for divorce last month ending his 20-year-long marriage to wife Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris. In the legal documents, Kenya Barris  said he and his wife have been separated since Sept. 9, 2020, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split. Oddly enough, Kenya and Rania have been down this road before. Rania previously filed for divorce back in 2014, but withdrew the request a year later after they reconciled and  Kenya Barris filed for divorce in 2019, however, in May 2020, he filed a request for dismissal of the divorce.

Rania Barris is now responding to her ex-husband’s petition. In her response, she agreed with Kenya that the marriage was over. She listed the same date of marriage and date of separation as he did. She asked for joint legal custody of their 4 children and reportedly checked the box for both to share custody. However, she noted that she also wants,

“primary physical custodial responsibility.”

In Kenya’s filing, the writer and director asked the court to award him joint physical and legal custody of their four children: 16-year-old Lola, 14-year-old Beau, 12-year-old Kass and a 6-year-old Bronx. He reportedly admitted he believed his ex should be paid monthly spousal support.

Kenya Barris’ net worth is estimated to be over $80 million.

The case is still ongoing.
