Southwest Airlines’ Flight Attendant Suffers Broken Back Following Hard Plane Landing
A flight attendant thought the plane crashed following a hard landing.
Last month, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant was diagnosed with a compression fracture to a vertebra in her upper back following a hard landing in California. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the impact of the landing felt like a plane crash. The flight attendant felt pain in her neck and her back refusing to move. She was taken to a hospital where they diagnosed her with the fracture.

Reports state that the other 141 people on board were not injured during the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board said:
“It ended up being a firm landing.”
On Monday (Aug 8) Dallas-based Southwest said in a statement:
“We reported the matter to the NTSB in accordance with regulatory requirements and conducted an internal review of the event.”
The captain, 55, and the co-pilot, 49, were informed about the flight attendants injury, who was in a jump seat toward the rear of the plane. The runway the plane landed on is 5,700 feet long. To compare, runways at the Los Angeles International Airport are about 8,900 to 13,000 feet long.
