Idris Elba Says His Daughter Didn’t Speak To Him For 3 Weeks After Not Getting The Role In His New Film [VIDEO]

Idris Elba says his daughter Isan Elba didn’t talk to him for three weeks after not landing a role in his new film, ‘Beast.’

During a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club”, the actor revealed that Isan Elba auditioned for his new film, Beast, in hopes of playing one of his daughters. Unfortunately, she didn’t land the part, which affected their relationship for a few weeks. While she did good in her audition, Idris said that he and his daughter’s chemistry in real life “wasn’t right for the film.” He explained,

“The relationship in the film and the relationship between me and my daughter was– the chemistry wasn’t right for film. Weirdly enough..My daughter didn’t talk to me for about three weeks.”

The films’ producer, Will Packer then chimed in and confirmed that he was the one who called the 20-year-old aspiring actress and informed her that she did not land the role. Packer said,

“I called and talked to her, ’cause I’ve known her for a very long time, you know what I mean. I’m like ‘Uncle Will.’ That’s like my little niece, you know, and she’s amazing.”

Packer went on to vouch for Idris Elba being an excellent father and being fair with his daughter during her audition, showing no sign of special treatment.

“Idris was like, ‘listen, put her through the ropes, go in, give her a shot’. He auditioned with her, he was very tough on her. And he said listen, at the end of the day, we’re going to make the best decision for the movie.”

Despite not being picked for the role, Isan Elba was still “gracious” for the experience. Idris said,

“We got through that you know and I’m really proud of her to go through that, not get the role, but still come to the premiere.”

Although Isan won’t be in her father’s upcoming film, Will Packer is confident that the aspiring actress will get her big break very soon.

“You’re definitely going to be seeing her.”
