Nicki Minaj’s latest single has landed her first spot at number one without the backing of other artists!
According to reports, rapper Nicki Minaj’s new song “Super Freaky Girl” has debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being streamed 21.1 million times, amassing 4.6 million radio airplay audience impressions, and selling 89,000 digital downloads in its first week.

The historic track marks the first hip-hop song by a female artist (without accompaniment) since Lauryn Hill’s iconic “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
Reportedly, not many female rappers have collected as many pure sales from one song. Rappers including Megan Thee Stallion, Iggy Azalea, and Cardi B have hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 since the influential Lauryn Hill.

New York native Cardi B leads the group with five total number one singles. Her chart-topping songs “Bodak Yellow” and “Up” were unaccompanied, but they did not debut at the top of the chart. Cardi B’s other three big hits—“I Like It,” “Girls Like You,” and “WAP”—were collaborations.
“Super Freaky Girl” serves as Nicki Minaj’s first solo number one hit and her first without accompaniment. The single marks the Trinidadian rapper’s third number one single following her “Say So” featuring Doja Cat and “Trollz” with 6ix9ine.
Congratulations to Nicki Minaj!
