Joey Badass Disagrees With Drink Champs Removing Kanye’s Interview
Joey Badass is seemingly defending Kanye West’s freedom of speech!
The 27-year-old rapper/actor took to Twitter on Monday (Oct. 17) to share his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding Kanye “Ye” West.
As you may recall, Ye recently did an interview on Drink Champs where he made false claims about the death of George Floyd. He also made anti semitic comments while speaking about Jewish people. His comments garnered so much backlash, even the attorney for the Floyd family spoke out against Kanye West. Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt later announced that Floyd’s family is considering a lawsuit against Ye over “false statements about the manner of his death.”
Upon receiving an overwhelming amount of backlash, Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. decided to remove the three-hour-long interview off of Youtube.

Now, it appears the Power Book 3: Raising Kanan actor is weighing in on the controversy. In a string of tweets, Joey Badass lets it be known that he does not agree with everything Kanye says, however, he still believes in freedom of speech and thinks it was “Wack” for them to delete his interview.

Joey tweeted,
“I don’t support everything Kanye been saying and honestly been trying my best to ignore most of it (for my own peace of mind) but censoring his right to freedom of speech is WACK. Askin him to come speak on your platform and then removing/blocking the content cuz you don’t agree?”

The “Head High” rapper continued,
“We can have healthy disagreements. And yes Kanye can do a much better job at his delivery but it’s the same old story. Magnifying a small piece of what he said and taking it out of context. The mass media needs to learn some new moves it’s corny and so obvious at this point.”

After receiving a slew of messages and rebuttals, it looks like Joey Badass quickly regretted his decision to speak out on the controversial matter.
Less than 20 mins. later, Joey tweeted,
“I knew I shouldn’t have gotten into the Kanye web got dammit. Every time smh let’s proceed like I ain’t said a word bout this matter. Carry on people. How about this NBA season huh?”

Joey has yet to comment any further on the matter.
