LeBron James’ SpringHill Partners w/ Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Films For Docuseries On The Late Rapper
A docuseries about the life of the late, great Nipsey Hussle is in the works from LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Springhill and Hussle’s Marathon Films.
According to reports, the docuseries will tell the life of Nipsey Hussle, starting from his days as a young boy growing up in Crenshaw, to the musician and activist he became later in life. It also features exclusive access to Nipsey’s inner circle, never-before-seen footage, and interviews with more than 50 collaborators including Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Diddy, and Nipsey’s longtime partner, Lauren London.

Lebron James had this to say about the project:

Maverick Carter, media personality and CEO of The SpringHill Company also shared his excitement and reflected on the importance of the docuseries:

It’s an incredible responsibility to tell Nipsey Hussle’s story alongside his family and Marathon Films in a way that captures every facet of life from his childhood to his impact on community and culture. His legacy is so much more than music – he defined activism and what it means to never forget where you come from. It’s an honor for SpringHill to help tell this important story.”
As previously reported, the West Coast rapper, born Ermias Asghedom, was shot and killed at 33 years old in the parking lot of his Los Angeles clothing store, The Marathon Clothing, in March 2019. In July of this year, after a three-week trial that was delayed due to the pandemic, jurors found his killer, Eric Holder, guilty of first-degree murder.

Despite a rap career that began with handing out mixtapes, Nipsey Hussle became a prominent fixture on the Southern California music scene, partnering with big-name artists such as Snoop Dogg. After initially signing with Epic Records, Hussle launched his own label, All Money In, which distributed his various mixtapes and his acclaimed studio album “Victory Lap.” The project earned the rapper a nomination for “Best Rap Album” at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Overall, Nipsey Hussle is a 5x Grammy-nominated artist, with 2 Grammy wins.
