EXCLUSIVE: Lil Mo Reflects On Meeting Whitney Houston For The First Time And ‘The Way She Made’ Her Feel:
During an exclusive interview with Jasmine Brand, CEO of the theJasmineBRAND, r&b singer Lil Mo recalled the moment she met the late Whitney Houston for the first time.
Lil Mo begins by noting the impact that Whitney Houston had on her as a child growing up in the church.
“You grow up in the church and you see the person you’ve looked up to your whole life go secular and say if she can do it I can do it and then you meet her face to face.”
She then recalls getting in the booth with Whitney and being nervous.
“My God, so I’m standing next to Whitney Houston and she’s like what’s the note you do right here I was like ‘I don’t know.’ So it was like wow I’m standing here and I think my throat had closed up….nothing will come out right? so I was like just really in shock.”

Lil Mo goes on to share that while Whitney Houston was a superstar, the iconic singer was very down to earth.
“Every time I saw her after that– because Whitney was a superstar but she would be hanging out with Faith Evans – I was like, ‘wait a minute, Whitney Houston is in here?'”
She continues,
“Every time she saw me she would be like, ‘I was listening to the radio the other day and I said is that Mo? No, that ain’t Mo because ain’t no other person like Mo,’ and I’ll never forget that. So it wasn’t what she said or what she did but the way she made me feel.”
