Beyoncé & Britney Spears Collaboration Falls Through
Beyoncé and Britney Spears were set to work together on a project, however, it appears the collab fell through and is no longer moving forward.
According to reports, Beyoncé asked the pop superstar to appear in a new music video, but the team-up ultimately did not happen. So far, it’s unclear why the collaboration between the two artists didn’t work out.
Both icons collaborated together back in 2004 for a Pepsi commercial with fellow pop star Pink. The trio sang Queen’s hit song, “We Will Rock You.” The ladies appeared as a set of female gladiators set to battle to the death inside the Colosseum in Rome. Singer Enrique Iglesias made an appearance in the commercial as a Roman emperor.
Since her controversial 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021, Britney Spears made a musical comeback in August 2022 when she collaborated with Elton John on a duet titled “Hold Me Closer.” The song–which is a remake of Elton John’s classic “Tiny Dancer”– debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Spears’ first top 10 single in a decade.
As previously reported, Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears was formerly her appointed conservator — a guardian or protector appointed to manage the financial affairs and/or daily life of another person due to physical or mental limitations. Following a rocky court battle, however, it was revealed that Jamie Spears severely abused his role while Britney’s entire family benefitted from the mismanagement. Britney was freed from her conservatorship in November 2021, after thirteen years, officially allowing the singer to make her own decisions about her personal life and finances.
Beyoncé also dropped new music last year. Her dance album “Renaissance,” which was released back in July, has earned the entertainer nine nominations at the upcoming Grammy Awards. For the hit project, the 41-year-old enlisted the help of many artists, including; her husband Jay-Z, Drake, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Skrillex. The “Break My Soul” singer previously shared her hopes for the album to rejuvenate a form of escape for people following the aftermath of the 2020 pandemic. She previously said:
“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again.”
The mother of three continued:
“I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible.”
She noted:
“I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies.”
She added:
“Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”
