Young Dolph – Suspect In Rapper’s Murder Reportedly Released From Jail

New details have recently surfaced surrounding Young Dolph’s murder case.

According to reports, On Christmas eve, Shundale Barnett — a suspect allegedly involved in Young Dolph’s murder — posted bail. His official release date from the Texas jail where he was being held is unclear, but according to a jail representative, the suspect more than likely would not have been held for an extended period of time after his bond was paid.

As previously reported, Shundale Barnett was charged as an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder last January after he was caught with the primary suspect in the case, Justin Johnson. U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller previously said that Barnett was charged as an accessory because police believed he was aware of Justin Johnson’s fugitive status and helped him evade arrest after a week-long search.

The primary suspect remains in Shelby County Jail in Memphis, where Barnett was expected to be transferred prior to his release. Clay County Sheriff Paul Harden addressed the situation during a press conference that took place last January. Paul Harden explained:

“On January 11, Mr. Shundale Barnett was brought to the Clay County Jail by the Indiana State Police from an arrest on I-70. He was booked in the Clay County Jail on an outstanding warrant from Shelby County, Tennessee.”

He added:

“We contacted Shelby County and held him on their warrant and we were contacted on January 21 and they told us that they were no longer wanting to come and pick up Mr. Barnett and that we were to release him at that time.”

Last April, a new arrest warrant was issued for Barnett on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. In addition to Johnson, three other men remain behind bars in Memphis with charges relating to Young Dolph’s death.

As previously reported, Dolph, real name Adolph Thorton Jr., was shot 22 times on November 17, 2021, while visiting Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in his hometown of Memphis.
