Cam’ron Shares Why He Turned Down $300K Offer For His Iconic Pink Fur Coat: It Wasn’t Like They Appreciated Where It Came From
A six-figure offer wasn’t enough to buy Cam’ron’s iconic pink fur coat!
As you may know, Cam’ron seemingly made wearing colorful fur jackets popular for hip-hop artists. Many people associate the New York rapper with his iconic pink mink coat. In a recent interview with Kevin Durant’s “Boardroom” platform, Dipset rapper Cam’ron shared that he once considered parting ways with his legendary accessory but ultimately declined the $300,000 he was offered because he believed the potential buyer didn’t appreciate the history behind the jacket. Cam, born Cameron Ezike Giles, said:
“The people who offered it to me, I didn’t feel they deserved it.”
The 46-year-old explained:
“It was more of a stat to them like, ‘I bought Cam’s jacket.’ It wasn’t really like they appreciated where that jacket came from.”
The rapper added:
“If it makes sense to sell it to somebody who would appreciate it or put it where it’s gonna be seen and be stored that people know it’s my jacket, cool.”
Cam then gave an example of the fans that wouldn’t appreciate the coat for what it stands for. He said:
“You got rich suburban kids who be like, ‘Hey Cam, my girlfriend really loves your pink jacket. I don’t really know too much about it but I’ll buy it for her. How much do you want for it?’ That type sh*t. These are booster babies — their parents come from generational money to where they probably don’t know much about hip-hop at all anyway, but they dealing with people who do.”
It’s important to note that despite previously turning down 6 figures for the coat, Cam isn’t opposed to letting it go to the right bidder. During the interview, he also shared where he initially purchased his signature jacket and why he doesn’t wear it often. He said
“I purchased that jacket probably 20 years ago at a store called Apollo Signature in Harlem on 125th Street.”
He continued:
“Maybe three. I haven’t worn it a lot. You know, it got a lot of attention. I bought it to wear to Fashion Week one year and after that it got wild attention so I put it away.”
He added:
“The coat got its own personality — people wanna put it in museums. People call me, ‘Could you bring it with you?’ ‘We’re having a fur exhibition, can you bring your jacket?’ ‘We’re doing a Hip Hop museum, we wanna put it in there, can we run it?’”
“So, the fur comes out once in a while if it make sense. But you know, for the Drake show being at the Apollo, I thought it would be cool to bring out.”

The famous pink mink coat made an appearance during Drake’s two-night sold-out performance at the Apollo Theater in Harlem last month. The Canadian rapper wore Cam’s pink coat and hat as rap group Dipset performed their hits singles, including “I Really Mean It,” “Dipset Anthem” and “We Fly High (Ballin’).”
