Professional boxer Deontay Wilder recently spent some time behind bars following a routine traffic stop in Los Angeles.
According to reports, Deontay Wilder, 37, was pulled over by police in Hollywood around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning (May 2). According to LAPD officers, the windows of his Rolls-Royce were illegally tinted and his license plate was obstructed.

During the traffic stop, officers said they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the star boxer’s car, leading them to search the vehicle. Reports claim cops then found weed and a 9mm inside the car. Deontay Wilder was arrested and put into custody in relation to the firearm. Reportedly, the 6-foot-7 fighter was cooperative and nice throughout the whole process.

Wilder was booked at 3:13 a.m. on a charge of possession of a concealed weapon. The former WBC champion was subsequently released after posting a $35,000 bond at 6:34 a.m., reports state.
Wilder’s court date is set for May 23 in Los Angeles, where he could reportedly face a felony charge and be fined up to $10,000.

“I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End.”
