Damson Idris Says His Mother Had To Bring Him Back To Life After He Channeled Satan For The Final Season of ‘Snowfall’
Damson Idris has acknowledged that he used what some may deem as evil forces to overcome his actor’s block amid filming the last season of Snowfall.
During The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtable discussion about 2023 TV Dramas, the British actor admitted that it was challenging to bring out the darkness in his character Franklin Saint. He became so distressed that he walked to a corner and cried out to Satan several times.
Damson Idris recalled,
“I remember sometimes we’d do 10 episodes for my show. In this last season, I was hitting a block. … So I went into the corner and I was looking at the wall and I was like, ‘Come on, devil, come on devil. Come to me!!!’ Because I needed to do something crazy.”
While Damson Idris‘ call-out appeared to work in his favor as he filmed the beloved series’ final season, he admitted that it wasn’t actually a good idea to seek help from the devil and that certain spirits shouldn’t be messed with. Fans were in awe of Idris‘ character’s evolution and eventual demise at the conclusion of the series, but the actor claims the conjuring gave him nightmares for a month and required him to pray and contact his mother to “bring” him “back to life.”
He added,
“That stuff is real. That stuff really is real.”
In case you missed it, the season six finale of Snowfall showed Franklin Saint — who had built an empire off distributing cocaine — lose everything and turn to a life of alcoholism. He lost his mother, son, finances, and home. However, despite possessing what most others would consider nothing, he ultimately thought of himself as “Free.”

Franklin‘s word choice seems to be a direct reference to a statement he made during Snowfall season 1 in which he stated that his primary motivation for dealing narcotics was to attain “freedom.”
While he despised his father throughout the series, his growing alcoholism prompted analogies to his father’s early appearances on the show, when he too was an addict.
