Idris Elba Reveals He Was Held At Gunpoint After Trying To Defend A Woman: ‘Nearly Lost My F**king Life’
It looks like Idris Elba once had a near-death experience.
The British actor recently recalled being held at gunpoint while trying to protect the gunman’s girlfriend. The couple was arguing outside of a nightclub when Idris Elba tried to intervene.
The “Luther” actor shared:
“I nearly lost my f**king life, after attempting to stop a man threatening his girlfriend outside a club.”
He explained,
“A guy [was] whaling on his missus, screaming in her face, ‘I’ll f–king kill you,’ and so on. I come round and I go, ‘Look how beautiful she is. Why would you talk to this beautiful princess like that?’”

Elba continued,
“He pulled out a gun, stuck it right in my face, and goes, ‘You talking about my girl?’ He thought I was trying to hit on her.”
He added,
“I remember thinking, ‘Don’t play negotiations like that… Consequences, man.’”
It’s unclear how the rest of the incident played out.
Speaking of nightclubs, Idris Elba revealed that he became friends with Prince Harry after an exchange they had in the club.
The “Takers” actor and DJ shared during a podcast interview:
‘I was DJ-ing in all these clubs where Harry would show up and he was like “Yo!” and I’m like “Yo!” And then at one point he was like, “Listen man, I’m getting married.” I was like, “Yo! That’s amazing. He goes, “I want you to DJ.” ‘I was like, “I don’t do requests!”‘
He went on to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018 and was the DJ at the reception. The London native previously shared that it was the Duchess who provided him with a list of all the songs to be played on her special day.
