Serena Williams & Husband Alexis Ohanian Reveal The Name Of Their Newborn Baby

Congratulations are in order!

Tennis star Serena Williams recently revealed that she’s welcomed her second child, a baby girl, with her husband Alexis Ohanian.

In a TikTok video breaking the exciting news, the 41-year-old athlete sits next to her partner and eldest daughter Olympia, 5. She then walks off camera for a brief moment and returns with her swaddled newborn.

In a subsequent Instagram post, the 23-time Grand Slam winner shared the name of their new addition, Adira River Ohanian, alongside a photo of the family of 4. Alexis Ohanian, 40, also celebrated a healthy birth on his own social media page. The Reddit co-founder posted several images of his daughters, writing the caption:

“Welcome, Adira River Ohanian.

I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful.”

And continued:

“@serenawilliams you’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter[.] I’ll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister.

Williams announced her second pregnancy during an appearance at the Met Gala back in May of this year. Donning a black Gucci gown and posing next to her hubby of nearly 6 years, the tennis icon cradled her growing baby bump and shared her gratitude to fashion icon Anna Wintour for inviting the “the 3” of them to the prestigious event.

The reveal came at a transitional time in the athlete’s life. As we covered just a few months prior, Williams stated that she planned to take some time away from tennis to focus on growing her family. After many speculated that the sports star was alluding to retiring, she later clarified her statements. Williams insisted that the possibility of her return to the game is “very high,” but would come at the right time.

The superstar athlete previously opened up about the guilt she felt being away from her firstborn daughter to focus on her career. Olympia was born in 2017 while Williams was still seeing much success in her tennis matches. Vowing to relieve herself of the pressures of performing and parenting the second time around, however, she reportedly stated in an interview:

“I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete…I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”

It seems the celeb has chosen to be fully invested in her family for the time being. Williams also shared another adorable photo of her daughters to her Instagram Stories following the announcement of Adira’s birth.
