Brittish Williams Submitted An Appeal To Reduce Her 4-Year Prison Sentence Shortly Before Being Arrested For Failing To Surrender On Time

Reality TV star Brittish Williams may have ruined any chance she had at receiving a lesser prison sentence.

Reportedly, the 34-year-old was detained by arrest warrant recently after she opted not to show up to begin her scheduled 4-year punishment behind bars.

According to a report from RadarOnline, Brittish Williams was apprehended by police on January 12th, approximately 9 days past the date she was scheduled to surrender herself to authorities. Reportedly, a few hours prior to the agreed-upon concession, the “Basketball Wives” star filed a new court motion to reduce her sentence down to 2.6 years. She argued, as she did in her first appeal, that the ruling was excessive due to her being a celebrity and decided not to appear for the surrender because the decision of the new appeal could immediately impact her prison stay.

The report notes that two days after missing her surrender date, Williams submitted another motion to have the date extended a second time, writing she was “unable to report as ordered.” As we covered last month, the mom successfully got her initial surrender date of December 11th pushed back to January 3rd so that she could spend the holidays with her young daughter.

However, seeing as though the TV personality decided on her own not to turn herself in at the appointed time, an arrest warrant was issued and she was reportedly taken by police. Regarding her appeal, prosecutors reportedly argued:

“Even if Williams did qualify for a potential reduction, the Government would oppose relief because she failed to report to the Bureau of Prisons as directed and she already received a more than generous disposition by way of the dismissal of counts carrying six years of consecutive mandatory minimums at the time of the original sentencing.”

As we’ve been covering, Williams was handed the lengthy sentence after being found guilty on several felony fraud charges relating to tax, bank, and insurance fraud. Her first appeal was reportedly denied by a court judge who ruled that the sentence was appropriate for the crime. Along with the 4-year jail stay, Williams was also reportedly ordered to pay $564,000 in restitution. Following her arrest last week, her lawyers have since reportedly filed a new motion to continue a bond revocation hearing.
