Eminem Set To Co-Produce ‘Stans’: A Documentary That Will ‘Explore The Complex Relationship Between Fame & Super Fandom’
Would you consider yourself a stan?
It appears that fan culture is becoming a hot topic in Hollywood these days. You may recall that back in March of 2023, Donald Glover released a TV miniseries called ‘Swarm.’ The fictional series follows the journey of Dre, a young woman consumed by her devotion to a pop star, whose fan community is famously dubbed “The Swarm.” The miniseries delves deeply into Dre’s life and explores the dark paths her obsession leads her down.

Eminem
According to reports, Grammy-Award-winning rapper Eminem will be co-producing a documentary with a similar subject matter. The documentary is called ‘Stans’ and is expected to highlight real-life superfan culture.
This will not be Eminem’s first time focusing on this topic. His fanbase should remember a song by the name of “Stan,” which the entertainer released in 2000. The song, like the upcoming documentary, also touches on the concept and culture of extreme, overzealous fans.

The upcoming documentary, according to the film’s synopsis, is a,
“revealing, edgy, and disarmingly personal journey into the world of super fandom, told through the lens of one of the world’s most iconic and enduring artists, Eminem, and the fans that worship him.”
Shady Films’ producers Stuart Parr and Paul Rosenberg (who is also Eminem’s long-time manager) stated about the project,
“’Stans’ will be the opportunity for us to to turn the camera around and ask the audience about being fans — and in some cases, fanatics. This is a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.”
DIGA CEO and former MTV executive Tony DiSanto added,
“Paul Rosenberg and I have known each other since my days on MTV’s ‘TRL,’ a show that was driven by the power of fandom, bringing artists and their fans together. So when he told me about the idea for this film, it felt like we had come full circle. ‘Stans’ will explore the complex relationship between fame and super fandom, told through the lens of one of the world’s most Iconic artists, Eminem, his music, and, especially, his most extreme fans.”

Eminem
Eminem will reportedly be co-producing the documentary by way of his production company, Shady Films, in conjunction with DIGA Studios and Hill District Media. It will be initially distributed by Paramount/MTV.
The documentary will be directed by Steven Leckart and is slated to be released sometime later this year.
