Rapper Tay-K, Who Is Currently Serving A 55-Year Sentence For Murder, Is Scheduled To Go To Trial For A Separate Murder Case After Rejecting A Plea Deal

Rapper Tay-K, known for his hit track ‘The Race,’ has decided to go to trial instead of accepting a plea deal in a murder case.

In a recent video that surfaced online, Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, was seen in a red prison uniform, in handcuffs, and silent as he stood next to his attorney, who confirmed to a judge their intent to proceed to trial in San Antonio, Texas. The trial date is set for March 11.

Taymor McIntyre’s latest court appearance comes as he’s accused of shooting and killing Mark Anthony Saldivar while robbing his home. According to reports, the incident happened after Taymor McIntyre cut off his ankle monitor and fled while on bond for a separate murder case.

In that case, a judge sentenced him to 55 years in prison in 2019, three years after the robbery and murder of Ethan Walker. A judge also handed Tay-K 30 years for aggravated robbery and two other counts of aggravated robbery, which the rapper is currently serving concurrently.

The Texas native song ‘The Race’ is the first single from his first and only mixtape, Santana World. The song about being on the run was released the same day the rapper fled while under house arrest for charges related to the 2016 murder case. In the chorus of the song, Tay-K raps,

“F*ck a beat, I was tryna beat a case. But I ain’t beat that case, b*tch I did the race.”

In the video, the rapper can be seen flashing handguns and posing next to a wanted poster bearing his face. At that time, the song became a viral hit and charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
