Rashid Byrd, Former NBA Prospect & Actor, Sentenced To 90 Years In Prison For Multiple Sexual Assaults From 2015 To 2020
Rashid Byrd will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
A judge sentenced the former NBA prospect and actor to 90 years in prison for multiple sexual assaults in L.A. and Santa Clara counties from 2015 to 2020.
The Los Angeles Police Department said it began investigating Rashid Byrd in 2019 when a victim claimed that he had sexually assaulted her. Rashid Byrd, who played in the NBA D-League and overseas, was arrested in 2020.

Throughout their investigation, detectives found out that wasn’t the only time Byrd sexually assaulted a woman. A statement from the LAPD read,
“During their investigation, detectives learned in 2010, Byrd was convicted of sexual assault involving a different victim. Detectives also discovered that Byrd had been arrested for sexually assaulting a young woman in Washington State in 2005.”

According to reports, Byrd wooed his victims before he became violent.
The lead investigator on the case said,
“He started as a charmer, playing up his status as an athlete and pseudo-celebrity, but that quickly faded into rapes and violence.”
In addition to playing basketball, Byrd appeared in the 2008 Will Ferrell-starring basketball comedy, “Semi-Pro.” He also appeared as a basketball player in a documentary short, “Bring Your ‘A’ Game.”
Below is an interview of Byrd in 2019.
Byrd played 22 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League in the 2008-2009 season.
