Anthony Mackie Faces Backlash After Jokingly Saying Tyler James Williams Was A ‘Weird-Looking Kid’
Social media users do not seem pleased with Anthony Mackie’s remark on Tyler James Williams’ appearance as a child actor.
The entertainers recently participated in an “Actors on Actors” interview segment, and one part of the nearly hour-long chat has gone viral online.
During their conversation, the two spoke about acting in film vs. television and how to build a long-standing career in Hollywood. While Tyler James Williams, 31, explained how he took his career from child star to adult actor, fellow actor Anthony Mackie, 45, followed up with a joke poking fun at Williams’ appearance when he was younger.

The Marvel actor said,
“Naw, but you know you was a weird-looking kid, and you grew up to be, like, a good-looking dude.”
Seemingly unbothered by Anthony Mackie’s comment, the “Abbott Elementary” star jokingly responded,
“I want to say we were all weird-looking kids. Mine was just documented. I haven’t seen your photos.”

Mackie then exclaimed,
“Exactly! And you will never see it.”

The 1-minute pulled part of their dialogue has garnered many reactions via X (formerly Twitter). While some users agree with the “Captain America” star’s sense of humor, many believe it was an unnecessary dig at Williams.
