Donald Trump Asks Fyre Festival’s Billy McFarland For Help w/ Recruiting Rappers For Presidential Campaign + DNC Responds
Billy McFarland, best known for the disastrous Fyre Festival in 2017, has been connecting rappers with Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The 32-year-old convicted felon reportedly facilitated a meeting between Detroit rapper Icewear Vezzo and Donald Trump. He also connected Brooklyn rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow to a campaign rally in The Bronx.

So far, Billy McFarland has helped link rappers with Donald Trump at least twice.

Billy McFarland was convicted of wire fraud and sentenced to six years in prison for defrauding investors and ticket buyers of the Fyre Festival. Promoted as a luxurious event in the Bahamas, the festival turned into a fiasco due to inadequate food, shelter, and entertainment, leaving attendees stranded and furious.

In response to the news of McFarland assisting Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) Rapid Response Director, Alex Floyd, issued a scathing statement:
“There is nothing more on brand for a convicted felon like Donald Trump than recruiting another convicted felon to join his campaign just in time for the Republican National Convention, which is shaping up to be just as much of a dumpster fire as Fyre Fest. Billy McFarland is joining a long list of fraudsters working for Trump’s campaign to rip off the American people – so while Trump wants to disparage the beautiful city of Milwaukee and lie about his law and order agenda, next week he’ll be the one responsible for flooding the city with convicted con artists and convicts.”
Trump’s campaign has seen endorsements from several hip-hop figures, including Waka Flocka Flame, Amber Rose, Benny The Butcher, Sexyy Red, and Lil Wayne, among others.

This PR strategy suggests that Trump’s team aims to broaden its appeal among Black voters by having rappers endorse the former president, who is twice-impeached and now convicted of numerous felonies.
