Houston Rapper BeatKing Passes Away At 39 After Being Hospitalized For Pulmonary Embolism [CONDOLENCES]
Prayers up for the family, friends, and loved ones of Houston artist BeatKing.
The musician was announced deceased this past Thursday (August 15th), with later reports confirming that he suffered a pulmonary embolism.
BeatKing‘s lawyer shared his sudden passing in a message posted to Instagram, writing about the artist, real name Justin Riley:
“Today, August 15, 2024 we have lost @clubgodzilla. BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade,”

She added:
“He loved his daughters @clubgodparenting, his music and his fans…We will love him forever.”

Reports state the BeatKing was working at the morning takeover at the Urban One/Radio One station Thursday when he fainted and was rushed to a nearby medical center. He later died after suffering the pulmonary embolism, with his daughters Jayla and Kayla reportedly by his side.

BeatKing first made his mark in Houston throughout the early 2010’s, solidifying himself as a local legend with his music taking over college party and club scenes at the time. He began his rise to stardom with the success of his 2010 album, “Kings of the Club,” and began getting mainstream attention with his 2020 track “Then Leave,” which became a viral hit on TikTok and Houston radio stations.
The rapper went on to release collabs with a few hip-hop big shots, including his single “SDAB” featuring 2 Chainz and Juicy J, and “Keep It Poppin” featuring Ludacris. More recently, he also joined Nicki Minaj’s “PF2” tour at the Toyota Center back in May. Many celebs have been reacting to BeatKing’s passing, notably Houston artists such as Bun B, Erica Banks, sharing their condolences and grief about his sudden death.
