Shannon Sharpe Slammed For ‘Anti-Black’ Comments Made During Social Media Exchange
Shannon Sharpe is facing backlash after responding to a critic on X (formerly Twitter) with a comment many are calling “anti-Black.”
It all started when a user accused the former NFL star of failing to address the disrespect faced by WNBA players, while seemingly only defending Caitlin Clark. Shannon Sharpe responded,
“I have no issue with anything I’ve said in regards 2 WNBA.”
Then, an account with a profile picture of #MeganTheeStallion chimed in,
“oh i’m sure you don’t.”
Shannon shot back with,
“Why are you on my page? Don’t you have another horse 2 rob of his hair? Stop trying 2 kill my vibe.”
That comment sparked outrage, with many accusing Shannon Sharpe of making an “anti-Black” remark by referencing “horse hair” in response to someone he seemed to believe was a Black woman.
To make matters worse, Sharpe had previously apologized to Megan Thee Stallion for past sexualized comments he made about her, and now he’s caught in controversy over her hair—though it’s unclear if Sharpe knew the user’s profile photo was Megan Thee Stallion.
After the criticism piled on, Sharpe tweeted, “I will no longer respond 2 any negativity. It’s not that serious 4 me… This is beneath me. Y’all pray 4 me tho.”
