The Wayans Brothers’ ‘Scary Movie’ Reboot Officially In Development
Fans of Scary Movie can officially get excited for its return!
Deadline reports that the reboot of the series announced at CinemaCon earlier this year has begun development, with its original creators, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans, returning to co-write and produce the movie.

Marlon simultaneously shared the reveal in an Instagram post, writing:
“WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

In case you’re unfamiliar, the comedy slasher films play off of horror hits such as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The first installment to the 5 film franchise was directed by Keenen and co-written by him and his brothers. It was released in 2000 to a record-breaking $43.5 million, making it one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror movies of that time. In total, the franchise has earned over $896 million worldwide.
