During a guest appearance on Keke Palmer’s podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Issa shared that there were many discussions about whether Issa Dee should end up with her “soulmate” Lawrence, alone, or with one of her other love interests who appeared throughout the 5 seasons of the HBO series.

Issa admitted she had to go on her “own journey” to separate her personal biases regarding Issa Dee’s love life, ultimately acknowledging that Lawrence was truly the character’s “soulmate” and deserved to be with her.
