Lisa Leslie Says She’ll ‘Never Attempt To Coach In The WNBA Again’ After Being Turned Down For Multiple Coaching Jobs This Year
Lisa Leslie is reflecting on her experience applying for WNBA coaching jobs and the challenges she faced.
During an appearance on Angel Reese’s podcast, the legendary WNBA star shared,
“I put my name in a hat to coach this year, for two teams. I did not get picked.”
Leslie, a three-time WNBA MVP and four-time Olympic gold medalist didn’t hold back about the difficulties of being a Black woman in sports leadership:
“You gotta be ten times as great as a Black woman in this industry.”

Though disappointed, Leslie remains at peace with her journey, adding,
“When I tell you that who these people hired is not better than me… but it’s okay because what’s for you is for you, and that’s not for me, and I’m okay.” She also vowed, “I will never attempt to coach in the WNBA again.”
