Last year, Too Short spoke to TMZ about his excitement for the project, sharing:
“My music partially influenced the creation of the story. It’s influenced by some other things that are the norm in a city like Oakland, but the story, being told back in 1987… the music in there does so much for you.”
He added:
“It has this sort of emotional attachment for each person involved, and it means so much to the people from the Bay, from Oakland, and to those who created the story. It means a lot to me, and when they brought it to me, I didn’t think about it for very long before I jumped on board. It’s just that good of a story.”
Too Short also assured fans that it’ll be a “great experience,” noting that he narrated the film, which is set to hit theaters on April 4th. ?
