Lizzo Says Her ‘Weight Release’ Journey Appeared To Happen ‘Overnight,’ Despite Being A ‘Very Slow’ Process
Lizzo is opening up about her “weight release” journey, revealing that it’s been a much longer process than fans may realize.
During her appearance on “On Purpose With Jay Shetty,” Lizzo explained that her weight release journey is intentional this time around, saying,
“I have been on an intentional weight release journey… I posted about it maybe a year and a half ago, and I was very clear that this time it’s intentional.” She also shared that she’s been open about it to show that “big girls can also be healthy.”

Lizzo explained that her progress has been gradual and often overlooked until her body changes became more noticeable. She said,
“When I pop out on a red carpet or a video goes viral and my body is different, it appears like it was overnight. It appears sudden, and the headline is ‘Lizzo’s skinny,’ which is a far cry from the truth because I’m not.”
Lizzo added that her journey isn’t about being considered thin, but rather embracing her own happiness. As she put it,
“I will still get trolled and talked about and the fat jokes will still be there, but I will be happy.”
