Former Congressman George Santos Sentenced To 87 Months In Prison For Fraud & Identity Theft
George Santos is officially headed to prison after being sentenced to 87 months (a little over 7 years) behind bars for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
The disgraced former congressman cried in court Friday (Apr. 25), telling the judge he felt “humbled” and “chastised,” adding,
“I offer my deepest apologies… I cannot rewrite the past, but I can control the road ahead.”
Judge Joanna Seybert, however, wasn’t convinced. “Where is your remorse? Where do I see it?” she said, adding,
“It’s always someone else’s fault.”

Santos admitted to stealing identities—including from his own family members—to fund his 2022 campaign. Prosecutors noted that some of his victims were especially vulnerable, including a woman with brain damage and two elderly men with dementia. Santos was ordered to surrender by July 25.
