Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard To Undergo Surgery After Season-Ending Achilles Tear Weeks After Blood Clot Diagnosis

Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon and will undergo surgery, the team announced Monday.

An MRI confirmed the injury, ending Damian Lillard’s season and putting his 2025-26 campaign at risk. Damian Lillard tore the tendon during Sunday’s 129-103 Game 4 loss to the Pacers, collapsing to the court without contact while trying to knock a rebound loose.

He had to be helped off and left the arena in a walking boot and on crutches. Coach Doc Rivers admitted Lillard’s status was “not promising.” After battling a blood clot in his right leg, Lillard had returned for the playoffs but struggled, averaging 7.0 points and 4.7 assists on 6-of-27 shooting.

Giannis Antetokounmpo said, “He’s one of the toughest — mentally toughest — guys I’ve ever been around,” adding the team will support him. Lillard, who turns 35 in July, is owed $113 million over the next two seasons.

Get well soon, Damian!
